So in between Base Invader missions what do YOU like to do in Free Roam? Here are a few of my favorite things to do:
Trevor's Crate Drops - Once they're unlocked, they're a great way to get easy Respect Points, Cash, and even the occasional special weapon. Once I unlocked the sniper rifle I didn't have to buy it from Ammu-Nation, I saved myself 20 grand by finding one in a crate. Snagging the crate drops is always a good idea, and the NPCs guarding them are usually worth 50 RP a pop when you take them out. These crate drops also rank you up in the crew pretty nicely as well since it's a competitive item that most of the lobby can see. Brings in good rep for The Old Guys.
Los Santos Customs - As you probably know, you can sell any non high-end vehicle every 48 minutes. A good idea is to set a timer on your phone to remind you because every 48 minutes you can sell a Baller SUV (the Range Rover looking one) for around 9000. I also have a habit of keeping extra Ballers in my garage when I run across them. If you have trouble getting to LS Customs in one piece, steal a random car, drive to the shop, and have your mechanic deliver a Baller to you. Just remember to shoot the drivers or you might get a Bounty placed on you by the NPC.
Gang Attacks - Not only are they fun, quick little shoot-outs, they can get you around 2000$ and 500 RP per attack and that's not counting the RP you make off killing the 15 to 30 guys before you're done. Make sure you grab the cash that the NPCs drop, some of them are carrying 500$ a pop, and the crates you find might even have weapons and ammo. I got a free Carbine this way.
Bounties - "There is no hunting like the hunting of man, and those who have hunted armed men long enough and liked it, never care for anything else thereafter." - Ernest Hemingway
Bounties can be profitable, fun, and depending on the skill of your prey, very challenging. My favorite way to hunt the most dangerous game is to head to an airfield and grab a chopper with an extra crew member or two and bring the death from above. You will be a lot more effective that way.
If for whatever reason you're rolling solo, try and find a Buzzard attack chopper in Sandy Shores or steal a Jet from Fort Zancudo.
Fun, Challenging, and Profitable. Just remember to split your take with any crew that helped.
The Running Man Pay-Per-View - This one isn't profitable at all (unless your a betting man) but is insanely entertaining and a little twisted. At your apartment you can watch any player in the lobby on your TV. Invite some Crew over to your place and pick a non crew member from the players running around in free roam. Call up Merryweather Security and hire some Mercenaries to go after your chosen target, kick back and enjoy the show. It costs 7500 to do this so have your crew chip in to defray the cost.
You can even make side bets amongst yourselves on how long your target is going to last. Like I said, it doesn't make you any money but is massively entertaining. Especially if your target is higher level and can hold out for bit. For extra psychological effect, text your target and wish him good luck right before you pull the trigger on the mercs.
Sports - Golf, Arm Wrestling, and Darts are all available and make for great Crew activities and trust me on this: Betting a 1000$ on a round of Golf makes it 1000 times more interesting, I promise. It's only money and you can make more. The added incentive makes these mini-games wicked good fun for you and your crew mates. I left Tennis out because I think it's still really glitchy/laggy and therefore not as fun, but hopefully that will get fixed as well.
Impromptu Races are also easy ways to rank up your driving and make some cash off your friends. Do them on your way to objectives. Also, BMX bikes are 800$ at Pedal to the Metal online, and they are a ton of fun to just goof around on jumping off of stuff, just ask u/ Inexquisite, it's literally all he does. Doesn't make you any money but it will max your Stamina out very quickly and there are a even few full skate parks and half-pipes that you can tear up in Vespucci Beach and a huge one under the anatomically inspired freeway interchange.
So sorry guys if I didn't take your mission invite. It's probably because I'm busy laughing my ass off doing one of the above activities. What do you guys like to do in Free Roam?
