Hit select and you can change the voice chat options so that it says "friends and crew". See if that helps and let us know.

Did you set the settings properly?
In the PShome menu, go to Settings icon Settings > Accessory Settings > Audio Device Settings and press X. Highlight Input Device and press X. This is where you select the microphone for voice chat.
Scroll up and down until you find "Your headset" and press X
The Output Device will automatically change to match the selected Input Device. Select "Your headset" for the Input Device Keep sensitivity at 3.
Also: Check the mute switch on your headset if you have one. Check Gta settings.

Mine is crap too (til payday, yeah boyyyyy) but it's seemed to work out fine sending messages through the phone or playstation messaging system. Takes a moment to type in game but it does help. Kennysbro and I have held whole convos mid mission that way.

Right on Bocephusbear. It's easier when using a USB or Bluetooth keyboard. So if you have one laying around; plug it in!
Will have to eventually pick up a headset myself.
